Why The Happy Hourglass exists

At the Happy Hourglass, I help you find what the best version of you feels like. I help you find your happiest, and thus your healthiest self, allowing you to achieve your highest potential in all areas of your life, including in your career and in your relationships. It was once believed that achieving success would bring happiness, but in actuality, it’s happiness that paves the way to success. If you’re looking to feel more like you or want to be more successful in different areas of your life, you came to the right place. I will guide you into revealing the depths of your inner wisdom mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

My program is designed to fit seamlessly into the lives of busy professional women who want to achieve their maximum potential by prioritizing happiness. Without the guidance of a health coach, it can be very time-consuming trying to figure it out on your own. We are hard-working women, and the last thing we need is another stressor hanging over our shoulder. When we take on too much and we don’t take care of ourselves, we burnout. This can lead to health issues such as sleep disorders, depression, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, decreased immune system, to name a few. These, in turn, increase inflammation in the body, and inflammation is the key factor in causing most mental and physical diseases, which can often be prevented or minimized by the lifestyle choices we make. One type of lifestyle choice is practicing self-love and self-care through integrative medicine with a health coach. Think about how useful sports coaches are, or even a guide in a cooking class… These experts just know where to start and how to get you there. While information is abundant in today’s day and age, it’s hard to know where to start. As a health coach, not only will I help with reducing your stress, I will also save you time, knowing that time is our most valuable resource.

Now you may be asking, what can a health coach do that the current medical system cannot? Well, in a lecture I attended at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Andrew Weil, MD, who studied at Harvard University, stated that we are facing a healthcare crisis rooted in a system that prioritizes disease management over prevention, often relying on expensive technologies and pharmaceuticals. Most diseases that we manage are lifestyle-related and could be prevented through better choices in diet, rest, community, and physical activity. In fact, 70% of doctor visits are due to stress. Despite spending more on healthcare than any other nation, North America has the worst health outcomes among developed countries, largely because we focus on treating symptoms rather than addressing root causes. Integrative medicine offers a promising alternative, emphasizing lifestyle changes, particularly what feeds your soul, over reliance on medication. While medications can be life-saving in crises, they often oppose natural physiological processes and can trap individuals in a cycle of dependency, leading to serious side effects and even fatalities. The reason for this is because our bodies are consistently trying to maintain homeostasis, meaning that when we introduce a substance into the system, it will find balance by increasing its counterpart. This can lead to more health problems, and the negative feedback loop continues. True healing requires acknowledging the bio-individuality of each person, understanding that what works for one may not work for another. We are multidimensional beings and so it’s essential to consider the whole person - spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically - and recognize that lifestyle changes, though challenging, have lasting benefits. Good things take time and things that take time, last. Ultimately, wellness is about listening to your body and understanding that health is a deeply personal journey, where one size does not fit all.

Embracing your authenticity often means defying unhealthy cultural norms in pursuit of true health and vitality - a concept known as healthy deviance. It may be challenging to pursue this path as it is not society’s mainstream, but what a great time to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Great things often come out on the other side of fear so let’s jump in together. Health is foundational to everything we do - think about all the things we cannot do when our health decreases. Health is the fuel that allows us to succeed in everything we do. So it only makes sense that taking care of your health will allow you to maximize your potential. As a health coach, I partner with clients to create personalized, sustainable plans for achieving wellness, empowering them to make lasting, meaningful changes. I help navigate challenges, help you tune into your intuition, and find what works best for you, fostering autonomy and confidence within you. Ultimately, health and wellness are deeply personal journeys, and coaching provides the support and guidance needed to create a life that nourishes the whole being - mind, body, and soul.

My passion in wanting to help others feel nourished  stems from my background in Corporate Wellness at Harvard Extension School and Organizational Psychology at the University of Western Ontario, where I learned the impact that workplace stress has on our success. By learning how to be the happiest you, and thus maximize your health, you can lower your stress levels and maximize your potential. This inspired me to graduate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2024, and it’s still, to this day, my favorite decision I’ve made. It helped me become my most authentic, happiest self… are you ready to become yours?
